Unable to get phonegapbuild token

I used Ares2 Readme to install an Ares2 instance on my Win7.
Now I try the "Phonegap build" - but this ends in error dialog displaying:
"Unable to get phonegapbuild token"
This message originates from line 50 of PhonegapBuild.js
after this URL is not successful:
In the Ares2 Readme I see nothing about Phonegap. AFAIK I never installed anything in regards to Phonegap. Is there something I need to prepare and please where is this documented?

  • I would say that that feature is not quite ready for use. In principle, you'd use the Project Settings dialog to set things up, and then "Phonegap Build" would send the project to the Phonegap build service, which then returns the built package, ready to install. There's nowhere to enter your Phonegap credentials into the UI, though, so at this point, I think it's a non-starter.
  • Still today I get this when I try to use PhoneGap:
Error: Unable to get PhoneGap application token (401)
I'm missing some beginners introduction for people that never heard about PhoneGap and how to make use of it with Ares2.
I have no idea what "token" is required here and where to get it from ..

did you register with github or adobe ( i need to do adobe for it to work )

    I do have both accounts

  • Right, first I registered at PhoneGap with github and I was not successful. Then I registered with a new Adobe ID and this worked better. (After confirming the Adobe ID with a link inside the registration email I found a Authentication Token in my PhoneGap account.)
It appears that Ares2 is now able to use this token and the PhoneGap build starts and runs for some time until it stops after about 2-4 minutes with
    Error: Unable to build application:0

Looking at the Ares server output I see this
    > Service['phonegap']: Using: build_dir=C:\Users\XXX\AppData\Local\Temp\com
    Error: socket hang up
        at createHangUpError (http.js:1264:15)
        at Socket.socketOnEnd [as onend] (http.js:1352:23)
        at TCP.onread (net.js:418:26)
    POST /res/services/phonegap/op/build?token=YYYYY&0.686599 500 120187ms
and my CPU load goes high and keeps several cores of my CPU busy.
I needed to kill the Ares2 node.js server to reduce the CPU load again.

I have no idea what is going wrong with my app build and the error message in Ares does not tell any details. Where can I inspect some build log file?
Can I execute the PhoneGap build manually - or do I need to configure more in Ares - like an AppID on the PhoneGap tap?
Can I download PhoneGap and run the build locally ?
  • Hello Martin, just in case the situation has not improved over the pas few releases of Ares2, could you please set the "verbose" property of the "phonegap" service in ide.json to "true" & let us know the output of the server? (or log it using "node ide.js -L") via a JIRA ticket?
