Good choice on the OSS License!

edited January 2012 in Open Source
Just wanted to drop a line in here and mention that I am glad HP didn't go with an overly restrictive open source license. In fact, Apache 2.0 has to be one of the more permissive licenses I have seen to date, with MIT/BSD being the most permissive of the bunch. Good on you guys at HP!

  • Apache is appealing because it's very permissive, it's GPL compatible, and it has good language about patents. It's also fairly widely adopted, so people are familiar with its use -- the Android project uses Apache 2.0 as its default license, for example.
