Yeah, we've done a bit of work on Ares 2.0, but we shifted resources to focus on Enyo 2.0 and the cross-platform strategy. Now that the main code is out, we're back to working on the widgets and building out the next generation of Ares that works with those new widgets.
Could you clarify the roadmap a little bit? Right now it says, "An Enyo-2-compatible version of the Enyo UI layer originally built for Enyo 1. Whereas the Enyo core is completely cross-browser, this UI layer utilizes some WebKit-specific features and therefore targets desktop and mobile WebKit environments." Does this mean the Enyo 2 version of the Enyo UI layer will also target WebKit, or is the goal of future Enyo UI layer releases to be cross-platform?
Ares 1.0 didn't support the browser on the Touchpad; partly due to JAVA. Will I be able to use Ares 2.0 on-device? - Or will I still need a desktop browser to develop applications? - In addition...will there be an Ares-app in the catalog (I've always wondered why there wasn't)?
Also, how will Ares 2 stack up to Cappuccino's Ares-like environment called Atlas (http://280atlas.com/) ?
Yes, Atlas is a nice approach, also the MobileNation Builder. If Ares 2 could achieve something like that, it would be awesome.
I've one suggestion: If scripting is needed (MobileNation Builder doesn't even need that), please consider integrating CoffeeScript. It's easier to read and code (less to code) an compiles to JavaScript.
